West Monroe, LA-- The United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) partnered with three non-profit charities to donate a portion of their proceeds from 2017 through their Fall Give Back Program. The $30,000 raised was split between Mia Moo, Ainsley’s Angels, and the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association.
“We’ve always done some fundraising, and each tournament did their own thing, but we wanted to coordinate that in the fall,” Joey Odom, a member of the Louisiana USSSA Executive Committee, said.
On Monday, March 5, the USSSA presented a check for $10,000 to Missy and Mia Robertson for the Mia Moo fund. This event was held at the Monroe-West Monroe Convention and Visitors Bureau at 5 p.m.
“This is an honor. Every dollar that is donated to the Mia Moo fund, even at miamoo.org, one-hundred percent goes directly to helping kids and their families to take that financial burden just to make sure that the kids here in America get the best care that they possible can,” Missy Robertson said.
The Mia Moo Fund is named after Mia Robertson, born with a cleft palate. All of the money donated goes to helping children in the United States, removing some of the financial burden from families needing treatment for cleft palate.
