March Reflection

March Reflection
Hey y'all! It's Mia!
This month I finally got a taste of warmer weather! Praise the Lord! This month I also went to NYC for Spring Break! It was the best week of relaxation, amazing food, and amazing mother daughter time! I am getting ready to enter my last month of school for the year and I am very excited for summer! I love all of you and hope you had a joyous March!

Holland is almost 11 months old and is recovering from her cleft lip surgery amazingly well! We are so thankful for her surgeon and nurses for taking such great care of our girl! Recovery went very smoothly, even with her having to get ear tubes two weeks after her cleft lip surgery! She is eating like a champ and loves to keep up with her two older brothers. She has her cleft palate repair surgery coming up in May and we are praying for another successful surgery by her medical team and praying for our girl to be as tough and resilient as she was for her last surgery!  ~ Holland's Mom

Nirvana has just turned 7 months old and she is such a happy girl! She has a great support team behind her and makes anyone smile that meets her! ~ Nirvana's Mom

!!! New Recipe for the month !!!
We will be doing a new recipe of the month to help children who are undergoing those tough surgeries! Whether you are on a liquid diet, a soft food diet, or just someone who is always down to try new foods, these recipes are for you!
Twice-Baked Potatoes

8-9 medium-sized potatoes
1 stick real butter
1 package Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix
2 cups whole milk
Colby-Jack cheese
Green onions
Real bacon pieces
Phil Robertson Seasoning

Wash potatoes
Poke knife 3-4 times through each potato
Place potatoes inside a 1-gallon ziplock bag and cook in microwave until soft (about 20-22 minutes)
Cut potatoes in half while they’re hot Scoop out the cooked potatoes (use a hot pad to hold them in your hand) and place in bowl on top real butter
Pour ranch dressing mix on top of potatoes
Pour 2 cups of milk into bowl and mix on slow speed until potatoes are mixed with other ingredients. Once mixed, turn mixer on high and let the mixture turn into desired creaminess. You may need to add more milk. (Just depends on how you like it and how liquidy you need it if you’re recovering from surgery like me!)

Add desired amount of freshly grated colby-jack cheese, freshly diced green onions and real bacon pieces. For a little kick, add my Papaw Phil’s seasoning! Mix all together and put in a casserole dish. Top with more cheese, onions, bacon pieces and seasoning. Cook on 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Enjoy!

Jacob was born in 2011 with Van der Woude syndrome causing a unilateral cleft lip and palate. That has not stopped him from loving and living life to the fullest. He is in 5th grade and his favorite subjects are science and history. He loves researching facts about history and sharing them with his friends and family. His current hobbies are basketball, fishing and neighborhood nerf wars. Jacob just found out that his first bone graft surgery did not take, and he will have to repeat the procedure at the end of the 2023 summer. Even with this setback he has had nothing but a positive attitude.

The Mia Moo Fund is so much more than just financial help. Yes, they have blessed so many families including our own with financial help with cleft related treatment expenses, but they have also created a community of love and support for all cleft families. We will be forever grateful for the Mia Moo fund and community.~ Jacob's Mom
