January Reflection

Hey guys! It’s Mia! January started busy, busy, busy—but the end of the month slowed way down, thank you, Jesus. I kicked things off by going skiing for the first time ever! I fell at least 100 times, but honestly, it was such a fun experience (one I only want to make once).

After that, I headed back to college to begin my final semester! I truly cannot believe how fast these four years have flown by! While I am definitely ready to be done with exams and assignments, I know I am going to miss my time with friends at school more than I expect!

This month, I also got to return to the place where we host our annual MiaMooFunday and spend a weekend serving as a camp counselor for high schoolers!! It was the sweetest weekend, and I’m already counting down the days until we’re back there again for MiaMooFunday!

I wrapped up the month braving a winter ice storm that left us without power for four days. It has been crazy, but it has also led to so many unexpected memories with my college friends that we will never forget! I hope y'all's families are staying warm and safe, wherever you are!

David was born in January of 2025 with a bilateral cleft lip and palate and has been my little snuggler since his first few hours after birth. His favorite spot has been nestled up under my chin! He has gone through the NAM procedures, extreme eczema, two cleft surgeries, failure to thrive and gain weight, slow to reach developmental milestones, and food allergies to peanuts, eggs, dairy, and soy. Even through all of this he has been a calm baby; only fusses when he’s hungry or in pain, and overall, a very happy baby! We have been blessed that even though he has had some severe diagnoses, his “walk” through them has been the absolute best possibility from less than desirable circumstances. We will be forever grateful for our surprise son that God knew we needed, and we are beyond blessed that his circumstances has not been worse than what modern medicine can fix. Thank you to everyone at Mia Moo for your generous gift and the opportunity to share David’s story! ~ David’s Mom

We first got Ryders diagnosis when I was 20 weeks pregnant. He was diagnosed with bilateral clefts in both his palate and lip. By God’s mighty power his cleft palate was completely healed by birth. A family member recommended we reach out to Mia Moo knowing we watched the TV show, follow the ministry of Sadie and follow the rest of the family. Mia Moo find blessed us with the financial assistance we needed to have the oral device that realigns his upper mandible so that a proper fix can be done to help Ryder with surgery. Without Mia Moo we might have never been able to afford this treatment needed to correct his cleft. We are very grateful for this foundation and thank MMF and their donors very much. God bless MMF. ~ With love, Ryder’s Family.
