August Reflection Hey y'all, Mia here! This month, I started my senior year of college! I am honestly so sad to be in my last year at school because it has been the best years ever! Even though I have already spent countless hours studying, it is still worth it. This semester will definitely be the hardest academically for me, but once December comes, it will be smooth sailing! I am so glad to be back to my schedule, which includes going back to my church for our college group, which has been my favorite part of college! I am so blessed to be surrounded by such a Godly community, especially when school and academics get tough! I hope all of you had an amazing summer and are smoothly getting back into the routine that school brings. This summer was one of my all-time favs, and I hope yours was too! Have a blessed September! - Mia!

AUGUST RECIPIENT
Our son, Jacob, was born with a bilateral cleft lip and cleft palate. My husband and I knew before he was born that he would be born with this, thanks to ultrasounds and fetal MRIs, so we were able to prepare ourselves mentally and emotionally to take care of our child with special needs. We have been taking him to Children's Medical Center in Dallas since he was 2 weeks old to give him all the medical care deemed necessary to thrive, have confidence in himself, and live his best life possible! He has currently had 8 surgeries and will have more throughout his teenage years. Even though every surgery comes with its challenges, and can be scary, it has all been worth it to see all the progress he continues to make. Now that he's 14, it is time to start the process of braces, which he is so excited about! Jacob has come so far in his journey, and has a little farther to go still, but we are so thankful that he is thriving, healthy, and happy! ~ Jacob’s Mom

Allie will be starting 9th grade this year, so we officially have a high schooler! She started the month off in full swing with Volleyball, which is her favorite sport. Within the last year, she went on her first foreign mission to Guatemala, did a mission to Arlington with student ministry, and volunteered 2 days a week with a local Mother's Day Out program this summer. She has such a heart for kids! As far as her cleft journey, she will be getting her next set of braces on August 20th and will be preparing for jaw surgery within the next 1.5- 2 years. We are a little nervous about that, but we have prayed over it, and Allie is confident she wants to move forward with that plan. We are still so very thankful for the love and support provided through the Mia Moo Fund. Not just the organization, but the people behind Mia Moo. Real people with lives who selflessly choose to live on mission daily. Thank you Mia Moo! ~ Allie’s Mom

AUGUST RECIPIENT
We are so forever grateful to Mia Moo and all the donors who have contributed! Carissa was born with unilateral cleft lip and palate, and her biggest, most difficult surgery to date was in February of this year. She has had a long road, and this has been her biggest year so far: double jaw surgery, revision surgery, turning 18, getting her driver's license, and graduating high school! She's looking forward to a career in ministry involving church production. We know God brought the Robertson family into our lives for a special reason, and we consider all of you our family! We love you all! Thank you so much for the incredible impact you have made on Carissa and so many cleft families! ~ Carissa’s Mom

Hey y'all!!
Our theme verse for this month is Isaiah 54:17, which says, "No weapon forged against you shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you." This verse is so important for us cleft cuties to hear because many of us, if not all, know what it feels like to face battles. Whether it’s surgeries, setbacks, or the sting of feeling different. Yet this verse reminds us that none of those struggles have the final word. The obstacles may be real, but they cannot overcome the strength, resilience, and hope that God places within us. It is a promise that no challenge, no matter how heavy, will define who we are or keep us from walking forward in confidence! Lean on your loved ones when you face these challenges that having a cleft entails. We know that even though we sometimes cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel, God does, and He is with us every step of the way!
You guys are AWESOME! - Mia
