BACK TO SCHOOL!
August Reflection
Hey y'all! It's Mia! This month has been crazy busy, but super fun! The first bit of the month, I was recovering from my surgery, which went so well! After I spent some time recuperating, we headed to Nashville! We waited patiently for the call that my sister-in-law Brighton had her next baby! We finally got the call and we welcomed my new niece, Frances!
I started school, and ever since I have been studying and studying. This semester has already been my hardest one yet, but I am still enjoying this season of life!
My favorite part of this month has been spending extra time with my niece and nephew. They make life so much sweeter and I love them so much!

Here is a reason to smile:

Hey guys! It's Mia and I have a story for you!

One thing I was never good at growing up, was talking to other people who had cleft-lip and palate. I never knew the right things to say or how to encourage people about to go through a surgery I had already gone through. This was because I still had so many surgeries to go through and I did not see that "light at the end of the tunnel". But this all changed in high school. I could see that I my surgeries were almost complete and I was able to talk to people about them!
One time at a concert, I met a girl my age who I could tell had a cleft-lip and palate. She noticed mine too and we shared stories about all of the surgeries, recovery times, and hospital visits we had. She had one more surgery left and I encouraged her and she encouraged me. It was such a special memory and one that has impacted my life tremendously!
So I will leave you with this: share your story!  Even though sometimes you might not feel equipped to encourage someone else, just you being able to understand a little bit about what the other person might be going through is encouragement in itself!
